Top Ten Easter Eggs in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

It's official, The Force Awakens is one of the biggest movies of all time. Much of the credit for this success is writer, director and fan-favorite J.J. Abrams.

Like many of JJ's movies, easter eggs are throughout the film. Let's take a look at the top ten:

Starkiller Base

1. Luke Starkiller

Starkiller Base is a nod to Luke's name in the original script: Luke Starkiller.

BB-8 & R2-D2

2. The Droid MacGuffins

In A New Hope, R2D2 is tasked with the safekeeping of the Death Star schematics. In The Force Awakens BB-8 has a similar job, keeping the location of Luke Skywalker out of The New Order's hands.

FN-2187

3. Finn's ID Number

FN-2187 might seem like a random number but it's not. Leia's prison cell number is 2187 in A New Hope.

4. Falcon Throwbacks

Not only do we see Chewie's Holochess Table but we also see Finn pick up one of the training balls used by Luke.

Mandalarian Flag

5. Boba Fett's Presence

No, Boba Fett doesn't make an appearance in the film but there is a Mandalorian flag hanging outside Maz Katana's palace.

Lieutenant Connix

6. Carrie Fischer's Daughter

Fischer's real-life Daughter, Billie Lourd, was cast as Resistance Officer "Lieutenant Connix". She even sports the hair buns.

I have a bad feeling about this

7. “I have a bad feeling about this.”

A fan-favorite phrase spoken by Han Solo in every Star Wars film(twice in A New Hope). In The Force Awakens he says it again.

The voice of BB-8

8. The comedic voices of BB-8

Credited as "voice consultants", Bill Hader and Ben Schwartz along with an iPad app served as the voice for the droid.

Simon Pegg as Unkar Plutt

9. Simon Pegg

Abram's mainstay Pegg was cast as Unkar Plutt, the rather wide junk dealer who barters with Rey in exchange for food.

Captain Phasma

10. Captain Phasma(tasm)

Captain Phasma's name comes from the horror classic Phantasm. When Abrams saw designs of the towering chrome trooper he noticed the resemblance to the Phantasm's shiny balls of death.
