Mighty Avengers 1-24

This is the first 24 issues of the 36 issue run of The Mighty Avengers, first published in 2007. Brian Michael Bendis writes the majority of this run, with art duties covered by Frank Cho for 1-6, Mark Bagley for 7-11, Alex Maleev for 12-13 and Khoi Pham for the rest of the run (except for three fill ins. One by John Romita Jr on issue 15, Stefano Caselli on issue 18 and Lee Weeks on issue 20)

It's a really solid run of fun Bendis Avengers action, but Dan Slott took over on issue 21, and while I like Slott, I just wasn't feeling it anymore so I dropped off at 24.

The storylines involved include an invasion by a new Ultron on the Mighty Avengers team of Ms. Marvel, Iron Man, Black Widow, Ares, Sentry and Wonder Man. This is the run with the Frank Cho art, which includes loads of Ms. Marvel, Black Widow cheesecake. Even Tigra and The Wasp show up to add to the Frank Cho pin-up art. (Hell, they even made Ultron come back in the form of a mostly naked woman. Talk about playing to your base, Bendis!)

The next storyline, drawn by Bagley, involves some Venom/Carnage-style symbiotes taking over damn near everyone in New York, and the Avengers are called in to sort things out. We also get some pretty awesome Dr. Doom/Iron Man battles with a retro issue that brings us back to the 1970's. (Just read it. It makes sense, if you do)

Next, we get some deep cover Nick Fury during the Secret Invasion storyline, gorgeously drawn by Alex Maleev (GOD, that man can draw!)

The rest of the Bendis run is all about Secret Wars and how the various members of the Avengers handle it. Issue 14 shows the Sentry being his usual crazy, cry-baby self. 15 shows Hank Pym being skeevy and sad. Then we get an issue with Electra being bad-ass. More Hank Pym the next issue. Then more Nick Fury. Then old school Captain Marvel (the Kree warrior Captain Marvel.) And finally a Secret Invasion Epilogue in issue 20.

And then Dan Slott takes over. This is during the “Dark Reign” storyline. Issue 21-23 are one story, and I’m afraid 24 is the first part of another story that I don’t have the end of, but I figured I’m giving you 23 issues, why not one with a big ol’ “To Be Continued” at the end.

So there you have it. Each issue is in tip-top condition and will be shipped bagged and boarded. It’s a steal at $20, but I’d like to know my old comics are going to a good home. Here’s hoping someone out there is looking for some Avengers goodness!
